2007 Summer Research Experience

2007-2008 Participants Juan Lucio and Yasmine Salas have begun their year long adventure in Dr. Walker's lab.  The 8 week full-time summer program at UCR commenced June 24th. 

2006-2007 Participants off to Universities!

Jose Avila has been accepted at Cal Poly Pomona.  He will start there this fall studying Industrial Engineering. 

DJ Cummings has been accepted at UC Berkeley.  He will start there this fall studying biology and infectious diseases.

Our 2006-2007 participants, DJ Cummings and Jose Avila, presented their research at the 2006 Southern California Conference for Undergraduate Research.  They gave a great  talk entitled "Establishing the Phenotypic Nature of Salmonella spp. and Escherichia coli Isolates as a Function of Environmental Stress:  Implications for Pathogen Transport in Aquatic Environments".

November 9, 2006

Our seminar series at RCC was kicked-off with a talk given by Dr. Walker entitled "What's in your Water?  Challenges and Solutions to Pathogen Problems".  An audience of close to 100 students attended!  The seminar series will continue with another seminar in the Winter quarter 2007.
